for example, the Sixers could have drafted Bol Bol and signed him to a minimum contract, but instead they sold the pick to get rid of $1 million of Jonathon Simmons's contract in order to give Al Horford $109 million https://twitter.com/ringernba/status/1293005471628984321
They could've drafted Michael Porter but instead they drafted Mikal Bridges then traded him for Zhaire Smith and a pick because yet another non-shooting wing developing a three point shot was a better bet than Michael Porter staying healthy.
I'm not someone who plays the SHOULDA DRAFTED X game unless it's a move that made sense at the time. (you'll never hear me say the Sixers should've drafted Giannis because come on) But so many of the mistakes the Sixers have made were the most likely outcome of the decision.
The Sixers found the two hardest pieces to find, young controllable superstars, and then spent the next four years building a case study as to how you can still screw that up and ended up with a roster that's ineffective, borderline unwatchable, and difficult to change.
And there's still no public discussion that the management team that put them in this position are in any jeopardy of losing their jobs.
