Tbh I think even outside of just having the character say I'm gay, Kipo as a kid's show does wat I wish more of them would do, it has the gay character talk abt his crush out loud throughout the story, n acts completely unsubtly about it before the end when they finally kiss

Like when you look back at the legend of Korra, yeah you can see Korra and Asami subtly flirting from season 3 on, but when you watched it the first time did you honestly notice these blink n youll miss it moments if you weren't gay? N if you WERE gay, did you not have doubts you

Kipo spends it's gay scenes doing exactly what str8 relationships get. When the characters meet there's a long drawn out sequence of a pink lovey dovey backdrop, the gay character always clearly asks about his crush, the fact that he wants to date

This other boy is the focus of the scenes it's relevant in, and while other shows tht don't do this r still huge wins, while I still love them so much, they're still huge steps for our community

I think we should ask for more of the type tht kipo's given us. Even if they aren't

Allowed to say the words gay, bi, lesbian, etc. Yet. Altho, to be clear, we should also fight to have characters get to say those words too

Bringing back this thread to acknowledge she ra also does this with scorpia n the reason I said kipo specifically was cuz I had just rt'ed smthn abt it n had the thought to make this thread based on tht, but it isn't the only show to do this

(oh and scorpia doesn't include the in ur face heart pink background when she first meets catra, it's not AS in ur face abt it but still makes effort to bring up tht she wants to date catra, I think this kind of thing is where gay rep can n should go)
