WHY THE BEIRUT EXPLOSION WAS AN ATTACK, NOT AN ACCIDENT.
This is not another superficial "bad things are happening in this part of the world" thread without any context of imperialism, to garner sympathy and feel like I did something.
Might seem long but it's actually a summary.
Most Lebanon posts are emotional outbursts about the despair we feel (rightfully) & then generic calls for local solution, "revolution", without context of all interests involved.
The Arab world is not uniform, you can't copy & paste your notions of "overthrow" on every situation
Lebanon doesn't suffer from dictatorship, we have democracy. The problem is the confessional system that the French colonization left us with. So although we have a proportional electoral system, people keep voting for their own corrupted sect leaders, out of identity-politics.
The last protests in January also forced the gov to resign, and a new PM (now ex) was agreed on. He's an independent with no issues of corruption & for the first time in 15 years the gov was not at odds with Hezbollah, the national, constitutionally mandated, resistance party.
Hezbollah has a political wing, they are part of the parliament and have always held the majority of the popular vote. And then the military wing, the resistance which has freed us from Israeli occupation 3 times & from the constant terrorist attacks during the Syrian war.
When new gov was formed, the US waged economic war by their control of the central bank & extreme sanctions, devastating the country. Currency lost 80% of its value. Purpose was to cause social unrest & request US help that would be conditioned on Hezbollah surrendering weapons.
Hezbollah is the biggest obstacle to the stability of the US satellite in the region (Israel), & to their complete control of Lebanon.
After failing to weaken them by funding Israel+all the proxy terrorist groups in Syria, economic war was the next step in the playbook, as always
Even if protestors can't accuse Hezb of being billionaire, money laundering, corrupt & nepotist thieves, like most of the gov, they blame them by association. If they're not corrupt why do they stay in the gov & "cover" for the rest? Without appreciating the imperialist threats.
If Hezbollah was not granted their weapons by the constitution, if they were not part of the parliament, their weakness would absolutely be taken advantage of by imperialist powers. So they have to be part of the government to protect Lebanon from being an occupied, puppet state.
So now that currency is worthless, extreme poverty & famine caused by bourgeois political class & US sanctions... The only lifeline for Lebanon was the port of Beirut. Lebanon survives almost completely on imports, and it's the only commerical port of significance in the country.
The fact is: the US undeniably attacked Lebanon through Israel.
I don't need to hear the jets, or eyewitnesses detail seeing the planes, or all the first accounts about 2 bombings followed by the last explosive one.
They help, but the media/political response is enough proof.
As soon as the explosion hit, before the damages were even assessed, with blood still on the streets, western media started publishing that a Hezbollah weapons storage was hit. Netanyahu was threatening Lebanon in the week prior. This was planned but results weren't as expected.
Israel took advantage of the corruption and recklessness of the Lebanese government, who is fully in charge of the port. Israel surveils Lebanon everyday, they have Mossad in and out, spying devices found everywhere, it's not a hidden fact. They knew about the ammonium nitrate.
According to info leaked after Macron's visit, Israel's goal was to wipe out all of Beirut, south suburbs included (main hezb areas). So to kick them while they're down, political pressure & narrative would become that Hezb was the cause & international forces needed to oust them
We saw the media/political pressure against the resistance right after explosion. HOWEVER, what happened is that the ocean took around 50% of the blow, the wheat storages, silos, and the port took 30%, and the rest was human loss and destruction of surrounding areas.
Before impact of the blast was even assessed, Amal Mdalali, Leb embassador to UN called UK/US/Germany foreign delegates to hold an emergency Security Council session to discuss "arms smuggling". This was leaked to ElNashra by Russia & by delegates in New York that she contacted.
This Hariri-appointed, US puppet denied those claims. The foreign ministry did not approve her actions. So who made her go to the UN and request international forces to intervene about Hezbollah? While the bombing was still not over and the dead were still not buried?
No proof then & still no proof now that Hezb had anything to do with the port. They're known to only store in remote areas. But the bombing would be so devastating that blaming the legal resistance would be justified instead of blaming Israel for attacking & violating sovereignty
-Then Israel offered aid 😂
- Macron came to impose a "political pact"?
-US called for upheaval
-Protests main slogan was to disarm hezb (Otherwise protests would be justified because ruling class greed is literally killing us)
-Important corruption documents were destroyed?
Why
AND the opposition all started to resign which brought the gov to a full halt & creates even more need for intervention.
Most knew about the ammonium & corruption, why not resign before?
Lebanon having mass political corruption doesn't negate that we are under imperialist attack.
So now the liberals, extremists, sectarians, & racist pheonicians of Lebanon have united (oh lala surprise) to blame a 7 month-old gov for an explosive ship that's been there for 6 yrs. Instead of blaming the warlords & thieves that they voted-in for 30 yrs. Blame ur parents🖕
An American military contractor reported the ammonium in 2016 after inspection of the port. This contradicts lies that "port belongs to Hezbollah". If true US wouldn't be able to make routine inspections & would have found something already to indict them. https://nyti.ms/2PPjjw9
Israel threatens to send Lebanon into the stone age every weekend. They violated airspace so many times (everyday) that the UN lost count. They bombed schools with white phosphorus & shot at ambulances in 2006. But all of a sudden for 1st time in history, they want to send "aid"?
Also, there are many accounts like this one in Lebanese media, that you won't see a trace of in western media https://twitter.com/Laila_saab/status/1293084789776322560?s=19
This poor worker says two raids "just happened". Also if all reports of planes are routine fly overs by Israel, it doesn't eliminate the possibility of an attack from the ground. Something they've done countless times before. https://twitter.com/Rulaelhalabi/status/1291073366624010240?s=19
Also important is Lebanon's growing relationship with China, America's new cold war adversary: https://twitter.com/Louis_Allday/status/1292914343705743374?s=19
And of course, never forget that sanctions kill. https://twitter.com/Louis_Allday/status/1293532505069494272?s=19
If they're here to help why are they docking WAR ships in Beirut? Under the guise of bringing humanitarian help (useless) they're only there to protect imperialist interests & Israel's safety.. incase truth comes out they're behind this depraved crime. https://twitter.com/LaithMarouf/status/1293223121919582210?s=19
