Open since 1949, Hockey Haven is a neighborhood sports bar out in the #RichmondDistrict. The orig. owner was French Canadian Rene Trudell, who played hockey for the New York Rangers. He was married at the time to a woman named Hilda, and together they owned the bar for 40 years.
Trudell opened the bar when his hockey career came to an end, but after a few years he got into a terrible car accident at Devil’s Slide and became a paraplegic. Hilda then took over the bar and owned it until 1989 when local woman Josephine Burns bought the bar.
Current owner Erin Massey, who came to Hockey Haven in 2001 and purchased the bar in 2018, is the third woman to own this thriving neighborhood space in its over 70 year history.

Hockey Haven joined the #SFLegacyBiz Registry in 2019.
#HockeyHaven is open with hard shell tacos, hot links, and cocktails to-go or on the bar's parklet ( #wearamask). This recent piece in the SF Richmond ReView covers how the bar is adapting during the pandemic: https://bit.ly/3fPl6Mq
