The FAA, the FDA, etc are not funded this way. And oil and gas doesn& #39;t even have a dedicated federal regulator! A similar tech company putting a human manned prototype supersonic plane in the air paid/pays the FAA $0 for review of their prototype testing program.

NRC budget is set by congress, 90% recouped by fees. Companies pay by the hour for review, mtgs & travel of NRC staff. Ex: Oklo paid ~$100/min for the 2 public meetings last week, incl public question time.
