One thing I have learnt in life, when God gives you an open cheque, don’t be humble, put more zeros in it. I have seen people fumble the bag countless times when unexpected blessings come their way, they think asking for less means contentment or lack of greed. God is limitless.
My first car was a gift, I was asked “what car do you want”, I thought if I asked for one slightly less expensive I’ll come across as good. So I asked for a Tokunbo jeep. Someone walked in right there & left with tear rubber. Found out later they had tear rubber budget for me too
The man counted $10k cash & gave me, counted $45k & gave the other person, I left his office emotionally stressed. All I had to say was “I wanted this type of car” QED. how it will be paid for wasn’t my business. Realised the financial limitation existed only in my mind, not his.
So I learnt, anytime I’m asked “what do you want”, I answer the question precisely, fewer words & shut up. I don’t try to explain my choice. I don’t try to be covetous or self sabotaging. I constantly remind myself there are people living in abundance everyday & I deserve it too.
I might not have gotten $45k car cause relationship level may vary. But one thing was sure, if I had closed my mouth after saying “I need a jeep” & let him decide, I would have walked away with a brand new tear rubber jeep too & a far better choice than what I thought I deserved.
