Guess who have been mentors to BIPOC creators?

BIPOC creators.

We're good on that.

HIRE us as EPs, GMs, CEO's, so we can make the difference you think you're making (that you aren't).
It's a pipeline. They're saying we don't trust your pedigree. So we're gonna put you through our entry level program and it's still gonna take you 5-10 years to get anywhere- and we'll make you feel like you owe us.
These programs lowkey ensure that by making sure they get brand new POC, they can darken up their roster but ensure the "flavor" stays vanilla- because they will be trained in the current problematic ways.

Diversity and inclusion is not a one way street.
If anyone tells you otherwise, they're wrong. Cause they don't have anyone on staff right now with the cultural fluency to embrace a new creator from a different perspective. So, how is this gonna work?
There is a reason mainstream podcasting makes GREAT efforts to maintain arms distance from POC podcasts. They think our work is "rough" and don't want to stand along side of us.
This is why I love teaching podcasting when I'm able to. Because my students are hella diverse and I can help them usher their "rough" ideas into smooth gemstones without asking them to sacrifice their backgrounds.
When I can get a colleague in our industry to finally get into my work - its like they just found out I could read. Meanwhile, I had more experience then them.
Trust me, I broke down US-CUBA relations after Castro's death in 3 parts on my now in hiatus show, @TKinTheAM. I did it in AAVE and was cursing the whole time.

But that doesn't "count" for some folks.

I wanna say- there's a place for everything and an audience for it.
Ya'll gotta start paying me for these diatribes or stop being weird.

Whichever comes first.
