This weekend, the man died.
Today we learned he was shot in the back while running away from the deputy.

The deputy said Salaythis Melvin “turned his head and started to face him while still holding his firearm” ... then the deputy shot, “striking Melvin in the back believing Melvin was going to pull his gun.”

Out at the Florida Mall right now about 20 people are gathered, protesting his death and calling for justice.
Group is now at the intersection of OBT and Sand Lake Road, stopping traffic at some points, in the intersection. Most traffic keeps going, many honk.
They yell: “Black Lives Matter!”

“No Justice, No Peace!”
“Hands up, Don’t shoot!”

Many cars going by the protestors frighteningly fast. @OrangeCoSheriff has four cars here blocking some traffic. A lot still goes by.
