This one hurts so much. Uncle Boons was (is!) probably my favorite restaurant in NYC. I even have a group text named after it. The food, of course, was always some of the best I've ever had, but it was also the quintessential only-in-NYC restaurant. Awful. https://www.grubstreet.com/2020/08/uncle-boons-closing-coronavirus.html
Made the terrible horrible no-good mistake of browsing my camera roll for Uncle Boons photos because I like pain I guess and found this one containing two things I think about (literally) every day: green curry snails and spicy beer
LOVE YOU FOREVER, UNCLE BOONS

Now my go-to dinner-to-drinks spot Bar Sardine is closing?!
The vibe, the burger, the oysters, Peter Frampton in the bathroom..a perfect place. Grateful it was my last pre-pandemic meal, but so devastated. Thanks for the very best nights, Bar Sardine

I know all these closings aren't new and they're going to keep happening (don't be surprised if I add to this thread again soon), but that doesn't make it any easier. NYC will survive this, I know, but I'm just sad that people won't get to experience these special places anymore.
