There is a false rumor on social media that police officers killed a 15-year-old on Sunday. Here are the facts:
- Officers responded to 911 calls about an armed man in Englewood
- A 20-year-old suspect fired at officers, gunfire was exchanged
- The suspect is in stable condition

As with all police-involved shootings, the Civilian Office of Police Accountability is investigating the matter. We will continue to lean into our partnerships in law enforcement, community-based organizations and others to support on-going public safety efforts.

This is an extremely heartbreaking time—COVID, gun violence epidemic, systemic racism, and now this. We have been knocked down, but we will not be counted out. We always get back up because that's who we are as Chicagoans.
