It just hit me that I'm entering my 10th year of university.

Here are some of the things I wish someone would have told me when I started university, a thread. đŸ§”
1. University is PART of your life, not your whole life.

Don't miss the birthdays, the dinners, or the get-togethers. You'll never be able to re-attend your sister's 8th birthday at a later date. Go now.
2. You'll fail - a lot - and it's okay.

I came out of high school with a ridiculously inflated perception of my academic ability. I failed a test for the 1st time in 1st year and thought the world would end. It didn't (although, it might be now 😂)
3. It's okay if you don't know what you're doing.

I changed majors so many times that I don't remember what my first 2 majors were. I felt like everyone around me had it figured out, but the truth is, most of us didn't. Figuring this out is part of the process.
4. All the things you said you'd do 'later' or 'after you finish' are things you should probably do right now.

I always said I'd do them after I graduated. I'm here to tell you that you won't have any more time THEN than you do right NOW, so if it's important to you - do it now.
5. Sleep.

Seriously, just sleep. It's so important. One more hour of studying will never be better than one more hour of rest.
6. BE KIND TO YOURSELF.

We're hard on ourselves. We criticize every grade, every performance, every paper, every experiment. There are enough people who will critique you in your academic career, so be kind to yourself. You're doing the best you can, and that's what matters.
