THREAD:

For the crowd panicking about the Grisham/Davies and Lauer/Urias swap between the #Brewers and Padres.

Lauer for Davies made a lot of sense for Milwaukee to give them another left handed option in the rotation.

Milwaukee also has a well established OF...
The OF consists of 2 locks in Cain and Yelich to play everyday. Braun, García, and Gamel are a great trio to field a 3rd OF on any given day. Given all that, dealing Grisham for a high end infield prospect is exactly the kind of move they needed to make.
23 year old Luis Urias was ranked as high as the 27th overall prospect in all of baseball in 2018 which was 3 slots higher than Keston Hiura who came in at 30.

Urias provides versatility defensively and hit .315 with a .398 OBP and 19 home runs in AAA last season.
He reminds me a lot of a less polished, younger version of Javier Báez. I know this comp may get a wide range of reactions, so let me clarify. I don't think he is Báez or even that you should expect him to be. They do however have a very similar skillset. See for yourself!
We'll start with the defense. We all know by now that everyone loves the flashy tags an rangy athleticism of Báez. Here is Urias showing off that athleticism of his own.
Here is a play deep in the hole at SS showcasing the strong arm.
A rangy play from 2B.
Here are 3 images of Urias at the plate highlighting the stance, load, and finish.
Compare it to that of Báez and it is strikingly similar across the board, though Báez has more natural power with more of a violent twist and load.
Again, I'm not saying he is Báez or should be expected to become that, just highlighting some similarities in style of play and potential that Luis Urias displays.

Luis Urias will have a major impact on this roster. Expect it to happen soon.
