This hope for a "vaccine" huhu it's not gonna be an immediate cure.. some things about vaccines that you need to know in order to manage your expectations (based on how current ones are now):

This is by no means an exhaustive list and it's just from the top of my head hahaha

1. Vaccines can have many doses that span months before they offer any effective immunity. For example, the HepB vaccine is 3 shots over 6 months, while some like for tetanus require boosters over several years.

2. Vaccines are not 100% effective. It is still possible to get sick even after getting vaccinated for certain diseases. This depends on the vaccine profile. Personally i completed the sched for HepB, but i was nonresponsive so I have to take the whole course again.

3. Some vaccines are made for specific age groups; some can only be given to children, while others only to adults. I dont know the profiles of the vaccines in development but there's a chance that once it's made, it cannot just be given to anyone.

4. Certain people such as those who are immunocompromised and elderly cannot get vaccinated in general, so even if it comes they are still vulnerable to this disease. Remember that these people are also the ones most vulnerable to mortality.

5. Viruses mutate constantly, so vaccines can only offer protection for so long. This is why for example, the flu vaccine is generally required yearly; and repeated/booster doses for others are very common.

Again these are just from the top of my head, but I feel like it's important to educate the general public that vaccines are not at all miracle cures that instantly make you immune to a disease

I guess this is really just to reiterate that waiting for a vaccine is NOT a strategy haha yeah sure there are a handful of vaccines already at Phase 3 of clinical trials but there's no guarantee that they'll pass these trials or show any effectiveness hahahaha

Oh and just to add a 6. To achieve the level of "herd immunity" you'd need to vaccinate a significant portion (70-90%?) of your population haha not even thinking about the production, how long do you think would it take for our us to vaccinate that many people?
