**Thread** Today we thought we would do something a little different here at Kate’s Rangers. Lately we noticed those that follow the British Royal Family that one of the Queen's daughters Zara Tindall is considered a favourite. She is one of our favourites too!!
Zara Anne Elizabeth Philips was born at the Lindo Wing on May 15, 1981 to Princess Anne and Mark Philips, the first granddaughter for Queen Elizabeth and Prince Philip. Since her father declined an earldom when he married Princess Anne, this would mean that Zara would
be born without a courtesy title. When she was born she would be 6th in line of succession to the British throne (currently 18th in line), and the second royal baby to be born in the Lindo Wing. It may not be well known but it was Prince Charles that suggested her name be Zara.
She would go to school at Beaudesert Park School in and Port Regis. Zara would excel in sports, and would represent her schools in hockey athletics and gymnastics. Continuing her education, Zara would study at the University of Exeter and qualified as
physiotherapist. Like her mother Zara has a true passion for horses. In 2003, Zara secured sponsorship deals and began to take her equestrian career very seriously, competing in many competitions in Europe and even in the World Equestrian Games in Aachen Germany. In 2004 and
2008, Zara was to compete in the Summer games though since her horse was injured she would miss the games. Zara would be honoured in 2007 when she was appointed Member of the Order of the British Empire (MBE) New Year honours for her service to equestrianism. 2010 would be a
great year for Zara as she would be voted the BBC Sports Personality of the Year by the British viewing public, it would be 39 years earlier that her mother Princess Anne won the same award. She would also launch her own equestrian clothing for Musto Outdoor Clothing which would
officially launch in July 2010. On June 11, 2012 it was announced that Zara would compete in the 2012 Summer Olympic Games that would be held in London. Zara would be the second member of the British royal family to complete in the olympics. She would also win a silver medal in
the team event, it would be a big moment for the family as her mother Princess Anne presented her with her medal. Zara would meet rugby union player Mike Tindall who would play for England's national team in 2003 during England's Rugby World-Cup winning campaign in Australia in
2003. December 21, 2010 it was announced by Buckingham Palace that the two were engaged. As required by the Royal Marriages Act 1772, the Queen gave her consent to the marriage in a meeting of the Privy Council on May 10, 2011. On July 30, 2011, the two would be married
at Canongate Kirk in Edinburgh Scotland, Zara would borrow the Meander Tiara for the ceremony. Mike and Zara would have two daughters together Mia Grace (2014) and Lena Elizabeth (2018). Like her mom, Zara supports many different charities and attends many events. She has taken
on supporting certain causes herself, mainly spinal injuries, equestrian charities and children causes. Zara would start doing charity work in 1998 when she served as president of the club that encourages young people 16-24 to compete in racing. In 2005 she would auction off one
of her evening gowns that she wore to a London premier to raise money for tsunami relief. She’s linked to inspire the Salisbury-based medical research charity which helps to improve the quality of life with spinal cord injuries and Sargent cancer care for children the UKs leading
children cancer charity. In 2009, Zara attended a celebrity poker tournament that was held in Monaco, and 2010 would attend another in London in aid of Cancer Research UK of which she is patron. Zara continues to work with charities close to her heart.
To clear up confusion, even though she is the Queen's oldest granddaughter, Zara has not carried out any duties on behalf of the monarch. Since she isn’t a senior working royal Zara has been able to enjoy a balance between royal and celebrity life. Zara can be her own woman and
has never had the pressure of royal life and being a working royal.
Zara is one of our favourites here at Kates Rangers, she seems very outgoing, a very happy/laid back person who loves her family. Hopefully we will be able to see her do some more engagement, maybe with Kate!
