Here's some through traffic filters in "working class" parts of Haringey and Tower Hamlets. Why don't we hear about reopening these? Because they're pre sat nav, noone even really knew they were there anyway. https://twitter.com/JamesNonchalant/status/1292795467743531008
This would be a lovely short cut through a garden square between New North Road and Southgate Rd. But it's not been one for years. And no-one cares? Where are the LTN naysayers?
Trying to avoid Old Street roundabout while traveling east from City Rd? Too bad, because this road has been filtered for years. And because Hackney landscaped it in the past few years, the pub landlord benefits. Another LTN loss noone see's.
Absolutely no drivers spitting teeth that 2 of the arms of Arnold Circus, Tower Hamlets are closed to through traffic. Almost like LTN measures are not a problem.
It's almost like proper working class, non white people living on Tower Hamlets estates benefit from measure to restrict rat running.
Even deeply anti-pedestrian/cycling Westminster Council have subtle LTN measures in otherwise heavily motorist-centric Kensall Green. Not the most well appointed of areas
Quick recap. Social housing, old and new in Islington that is LTN by default. Through traffic designed out of the neighborhood. Westbourne Estate near Caledonian Rd and the renewed Packington Estate in the St Peter's LTN. No doorstep rat running here. By design.
Couple more Islington examples where LTN measures baked in. Andover Estate off Hornsey Rd, and the Elia Mews / St development behind City Rd and Colebrook Row in St Peter's LTN and next to Boris Johnson's old house. Social housing well designed for people.
