Arrived at Colorado camp spot 17 hours after leaving our house at 4am. The weather is amazing. No humidity, cool. Primitive camping here. My son gathered fire wood (allowed to gather), made a fire and cooked us hot dogs while I set up tent.
View from my cot this morning. The air is soooo cool! I am in heaven. My son started a fire. I need to get up and get moving. We are headed to Idaho today. Staying in Sawtooth wilderness tonight which I am really looking forward to. Till later, friends.
(Been too busy driving to update till now...so here's what we've been up to)
Day 2: We left too late to make it to Sawtooth in Idaho on Day 2, so we went to Shoshone National Forest up by Grand Teton in Wyoming instead.

View from my cot on morning of Day 3 in Shoshone. We packed up and headed for Idaho, to spend the night in Sawtooth.
Not long after we left camp on Day 3 we stopped at this view point. Saw their was a trail down to the creek so we grabbed our walking sticks and headed down.
So we found an alternative somewhere near there on a nearby lake and here's where things got interesting...
We were kind of isolated & in bear country so we set up our tent sheltered by some trees & took anything that was food or touched food, back to my car. It was a good hike to carry our crap. I realized we had no cell service & made contingency plan 4 bear encounter.
At 1 am my son said he didn't feel well...then threw up in the tent. Think it was the undated lunchable we got from a gas station. He felt much better and went back to sleep. I cleaned up the tent and took the vomit laden trash to car. I sang as I walked w/hatchet...just in case.
Day 4 view from my cot. I didnt really sleep after my son threw up. Worried he might smell enough to attract a bear. But we made it through the night.

Oh! I forgot....before we hit Sawtoith we drove past Craters of the Moon and stopped. So cool!! Lava and volcanic rock everywhere.
After we left Sawtooth we headed to WA. We came across a hot springs that emptied into pools at the edge of a river and stopped to swim. We avoided the people and kept to ourselves. It was glorious.
After the springs we drove on. Daw some rafters heading toward some small rapids and stopped to watch.. so beautiful. We then made it through a corner of Oregon and into WA.
