Reasons why each car company sucks... a thread
Subaru: markets itself as a green company for hippies who like to camp. Makes SUVs that people drive to the mall. Sided with the Trump administration over California children with asthma on emissions.
Honda: anti union. Deliberately locates plants in places unlikely to unionize. Starts assembly workers as temps at ~$15 an hour.
Tesla: CEO is a sociopath. (Check his Twitter feed.) gets its divers killed by pretending its partially automated driving features are better than they are
Ford: family owned with leadership that tried to be responsible. Mostly produces monster trucks for men with massive insecurity and aggression issues.
Jeep: trucks are unsafe and overpriced. Despite efforts to market them as fun and excited are mostly just like regular trucks/cars but worse and more expensive.
Toyota: same problems as Honda, but also sided with Trump administration in favor of asthma for kids.
Chrysler: feel guilty at this point even making fun of them buuuttt only makes like three cars and they are defect laden death traps. (We have a Chrysler lol)
Breaking form but Honda and Toyota being anti union and locating in only in places where they can maximally exploit labor means the whole supply chain (which is massive) then becomes ununionized and exploitative
Volkswagen: I mean okay. Defrauded international regulators and literally poisoned sick and elderly. “A peer-reviewed study... estimated that the fraudulent emissions would be associated with 45,0000 disability-adjusted life years and a value of life lost of at least $39 billion”
Extra demerits to Jeep for building this culture 🙄 that encourages young drivers (who kill and get killed the most on US roads) to affix these pedestrian killing bars to the front of their vehicles, proving consumers have NO understanding: concern about crash physics
If I had to pick a worst car company.. it would be difficult. But even tho it’s a division of Chrysler, I gotta single out RAM, who invented the style of roid rage truck and uses a verb that evokes vehicular assault as its brand name. :/
That company (under Fiat Chrysler) also produced Dodge muscle cars with HP as much as 820– “the demon”, irresponsibly marketed to young men who think they are good drivers but are exactly the demographic killed at horrifying rates on American roads annually.
Volvo (Swedish) is actually kind of a good car company. Is aiming to have zero deaths in its cars. Actually sends crash investigation squads whenever there’s a serious wreck in Sweden. Still has gotten sucked into making larger and larger SUVs for $$$
Gotta go on about VW. Why do you even still get to be a car company after your whole leadership conspired to defraud the public/government? The auto industry is a cesspool
Look at Ford. I mean what the actual fuck here? Are they actually bragging about making the... Ford Explorer? A car so dangerous it will live in infamy forever? We are so, so screwed
General Motors actually invested in making electric/plug in vehicles but then spent $0 marketing them because it’s addicted to the sweet, sweet cash of selling Chevy Silverados.
Killed off all its affordable sedans for the same reason.
