We need a thread of UK R&B bangers from 2000-2006.
Track: Ghetto Romance
Artist: Damage
Year: 2000

For me, the best R&B song from a male group in the UK. Tim & Bob's stellar production still sounds incredible 20 years later.
Track: Tell Me
Artist: Mel B
Year: 2000

Mel B gave us this bop about a month before The Spice Girls released "Holler". The Jerkins brothers were clearly very present in their music around this time.
Track: Body II Body
Artist: Samantha Mumba
Year: 2000

From her debut album, our favourite Zambian gave us this Timbaland-esque bop with a David Bowie sample.
Track: Fill Me In
Artist: Craig David
Year: 2000

The UK's R&B legend gave us this garage/R&B hybrid classic at a time when garage was really popping. Produced by Artful Dodger - as a kid, I initially thought that was Craig David's alias lol.
Track: Holler
Artist: The Spice Girls
Year: 2000

The fact I still see this video tweeted at least once a fortnight tells you everything you need to know. Darkchild linking up with the biggest girl group in the world. Banger.
Track: Money (feat. Beenie Man)
Artist: Jamelia
Year: 2000

Jamelia really burst onto the scene off the back of this big tune, linking up with Beenie Man. Video concept is dope too.
Track: One Night Stand
Artist: Mis-Teeq
Year: 2001

Mis-Teeq was the all-black female group we needed and didn't see enough of in the UK. Consistent with the hits, and this is one of their early bops.
Track: Rendezvous
Artist: Craig David
Year: 2001

One of my favourite Craig David songs from that classic 'Born To Do It' album. Smooth vibes.
Track: All Rise
Artist: Blue
Year: 2001

Blue's debut single. A song about pulling out the receipts when your partner is moving mad.
Track: By Your Side
Artist: Sade
Year: 2001

For some reason, I heard The Neptunes remix before the original. Regardless, the legendary Sade entered the 2000s with this beautifully soulful single, off the 'Lovers Rock' album.
Track: Shoulda Woulda Coulda
Artist: Beverley Knight
Year: 2002

This break-up song gifted Beverley Knight with her first UK top ten. Well written too.
Track: Dy-Na-Mi-Tee
Artist: Ms. Dynamite
Year: 2002

The R&B purists may grumble because this song straddles about three different genres, but it was a big hit, and showed us how multifaceted Ms. Dynamite was as an artist.
Track: Baby Boy
Artist: Big Brovaz
Year: 2002

We need to give Big Brovaz their flowers because the 'Nu Flow' album had bangers. This Friends-inspired music video was very nice.
Track: Just A Little
Artist: Liberty X
Year: 2002

Another catchy Pop/R&B hybrid which went platinum in the UK and won a BRIT award. Blue lights and leather clothing is the most 2000s aesthetic combination ever.
Track: 50/50
Artist: Lemar
Year: 2003

I personally think Lemar was the most talented male R&B artist in the UK, along with Craig David. 50/50 was and always will be a big tune.
Track: Superstar
Artist: Jamelia
Year: 2003

Another Jamelia hit. Very popular in the UK when it came out. Only recently found out it's actually a cover, but she definitely made it her own.
Track: Scandalous
Artist: Mis-Teeq
Year: 2003

As I said, Mis-Teeq were consistent. I believe this was their biggest single, and production duo StarGate gave a nod to the group's UK Garage sound with that heavily distorted bassline.
Track: Say Yes
Artist: Floetry
Year: 2003

The dynamic duo known as Floetry dropped this amazing track as the second single from their debut album. So good it got nominated for a Grammy.
Track: So Confused
Artist: Raghav
Year: 2004

Canadian-born Raghav teamed up with DJ/producer 2Play to give us this lively fusion of R&B and reggae.
Track: Dumb
Artist: The 411
Year: 2004

This was The 411's most successful single, and as a group, had lots of potential to go even further than they did.
Track: Eyes On You
Artist: Jay Sean
Year: 2004

Another Stargate production, this time with Jay Sean, bringing the South Asian influence to this smooth tune.
Track: If There's Any Justice
Artist: Lemar
Year: 2004

Another reminder that the UK failed Lemar. This song was excellent. We don't get to hear this "I'll-do-anything-for-you" R&B anymore.
Track: Don't Care Who Knows (feat. Cassidy)
Artist: Keisha White
Year: 2005

This collaboration with Cassidy was sweet. I remember this video so clearly doing the rounds on MTV Base. Vibes.
Track: Come Into My Room
Artist: Nathan
Year: 2005

Can't have a UK R&B list without this blassic. It kicked off his string of consecutive tunes that we know and love.
Track: Playground
Artist: Fun*Dmental 03
Year: 2006

A blassic. The most requested since starting this thread. Fun*Dmental were our B2K. Big tune.
Track: Call Cupid
Artist: Kay B
Year: 2006

Not as mainstream as the other songs in this thread but Choice FM listeners will remember this one.
Track: Never Wanna Say (feat. Doctor)
Artist: Soundbwoy Ent
Year: 2006

The rise of Channel U encouraged more UK artists to successfully merge R&B with garage and grime sounds. This track is a great example.
