your crit comes in when you're breaking down whether you feel those emotions were appropriate for the experience. that's where dissent comes in. setting a hard rule that games shouldn't make you feel bad is nonsense, 100x moreso than anyone who ever asked for sekiro easy mode
people are talking about games like pathologic but this extends to even the most avg stuff. "why don't they let me have my weapons at the start of halflife 2?" "why make it so hard to move on those ice floors in mario?" when to frustrate and disempower is very much part of design
