"High-ball!!", a Netflix adaptation of the bestselling Japanese comic book about volleyball, featuring Shawn Suncliffe meeting his fated rival Tobias Shadow in Blackcrowe High. They clash at first, but with the help of their teammates, can they become the best in America?

The duo are thrown out of the gym by captain Drake Sawmiller, and are laughed at by their fellow teammates Simon "Simey" Mooney and Ted Hillson. But with the help of their upperclassman Leonard "Leopard" Smith, Shawn and Tobias manage to come out victorious in a 3x3 match!

The team are invited to play against Bluecastle East High, where the talented setter Troy Rivers and his best friend Alexander "Rocky" Rockwell play at. As Tobias has a conversation with his past teammates Jimmy and Andrew, Shawn hears about the "ace" that's been bunking practice

After being begged incessantly by the teacher, Billy Tanner, corner shop owner Blaine Crowley agrees reluctantly to coach the team for their practice match against Nickelmat High. When Shaun gets lost in Los Angeles, he meets Oliver Cosme, who is sitting there playing PSP.

When they reach Nickelmat High, the captain with a horrible bedhead emerges: Bradley Blacktail. He shakes his hands with Drake, while Matthew Sugar and Morris Kay apologize to each other for their other teammates

The team grow stronger every day, especially with the addition of the super libero Jake Dawnvalley and the ace, Julian Dusk. They, however, grow nervous at the prospect of facing the Iron Wall, Dot Tech.

Julian almost has a mental breakdown after hearing "Go go let's go let's go Dotty Tech" over and over again, but they still manage to win. After they have their victory, they go against Bluecastle, and suffer a devastating loss. Coach Crowley brings them all to KFC to cry.

To grow stronger, they head over to Los Angeles again for a training weekend. There, they meet Nickelmat High again, as well as Owlvalley High, with the top 5 ace Victor Boland and his best friend and setter Kevin Redreed.

During training camp, Ted can't help noticing his friend Simey doesn't seem to be doing his best. While Bradley calls Shaun "Shaun the Shrimp", he tries to get Simey to practice with him. Ted runs up to Simon and yells "You've always been rad... But you're not rad lately!"

The two managers, Hayley Shimmies and Tina Yacht, get involved in a messy love triangle because this is a Netflix adaptation.

After defeating Bluecastle in the tournaments, there stands a huge obstacle: Whitebird High, a school full of elites and "rich bitches". The left-handed Kurt Birmingham proves to be a tough opponent, as well as guess blocker Ben Dough. "Goodbye, my homies." he says at the end.

During the Los Angeles qualifier matches, Victor leads the team to victory against Nickelmat High. Now Bradley must face his other rival, Jonathan Dyeshoe. He comes out victorious against Jonathan's team, Nohay Bee High.

After gatecrashing the training camp and becoming ballboy, Shaun becomes stronger, ready to go to nationals. After a racy encounter with Hayley who picked up his lost shoes, Leonard accidentally turns down his childhood friend, Amanda Kinley.

A strong team, from Kentucky, goes up against them in round two. The "Meyer Twins", Sam and Tim, as well as their captain Stephen Kitter, prove to be a challenging opponent. But in the end, they come out victorious against Inner Kentucky High.

Finally, before the fated battle between Nickelmat High, Oliver Cosmay almost gets the whole team disqualified, by bringing a pocket knife to nationals. They lose to Blackcrowe High, and Oliver says... "Thank you for teaching me volleyball, Bradley." Bradliver ship sails.

Blackcrowe High move on to go against Seagullson High, where Tobias meets Corey Starsea again, along with Jonas Noon. Shawn ends up getting food poisoning from the KFC Sam and Tim had give him, and Blackcrowe loses.

A few years later, Shawn goes to Brazil, trying to show off his Spanish and getting majorly disappointed after he realized he should have studied Portuguese. His roommate Pedro is a MCU fan, and they spend hours marathoning Avengers and other Marvel movies.

Meanwhile in America, the MSDY Black Mastiffs have Victor Boland yelling "Timmy Tim Tim" to Tim Meyer after he gets sad about his meme reference not landing during the fanmeet. Shawn joins the Black Mastiffs, to battle Tobias and his team, the Schwifty Adlers.

As things get chaotic between the Mastiffs and Schwifties, Tim Meyer misses his friend, Alan O'Zero. And now, his teammate and clean freak Robert Saxer has finished roasting an anti-vax facebook mom online.

Kevin Redreed comes to the stadium with comic book artist Theo Raven, buying a bunch of burgers and hot dogs from "Meyer's Bites". Unfortunately Ken Cherub could not make it to see Kurt live, because he is a med student thinking of whether to spit on someone's scrubs.

Simon Mooney had blocked Shawn on social media, after he had received 30 different pieces of shocking pink attire from the mail over the course of Shawn's stay in Brazil. Leonard and Hayley were married, and Matthew became a teacher even though "Mr Sugar" took time.

Meanwhile, Oliver Cosmay becomes a YouTuber and a stock trader, while also having an underground job as a hacker just because he can. He gets demonetized all the time for saying "fuck" while playing Overwatch, but he doesn't care.

When the Black Mastiffs win against the Schwifty Adlers, Bradley Blacktail, drags Shawn away to do a collaboration video with Oliveisnotdead, the famous YouTuber.

"Ennoshita", "Narita", "Kinoshita" from the original comic book are never mentioned once except for a cameo once.

Throughout the match, there are shitty slideshows of some characters' lives, played up for dramatic effect with additional sad backstories. Due to backlash from the fandom, the Olympics are condensed into 1 episode, and "High Ball!!" ends exactly like the original manga.
