I should live by my twitter bio so here’s a tech update:
#Dyson Pure Cool Me. A personal air purifier fan that has been added to the WFH set up. Look what quarantine did to me 😩😍
Dyson Pure Cool Me 1 Month Review: #DysonPH
I’ve been eyeing this Dyson fan for quite some time now, mainly due to its aesthetic. The black and nickel color just looks so good! At bagay talaga sa WFH set-up ko na mostly black. It's also available in White/Silver and Gunmetal.
But its air purification function got me sold. I do suffer from allergic rhinitis, so this can help me filter allergens, ultrafine particles and odor in the air. Given our current situation, this is ideal for us who spend most of our time in our desks.
DESIGN: It looks like a good trash bin. 😂 Kidding aside, it is very eye catching due to its futuristic look. Looks really high end in person! There are no fan blades (a Dyson thing) which means it’s very easy to clean. It has a very small footprint and weighs around 2.7 kg.
It’s light enough to carry around wherever you want to place it. On a desk, side table, bedside tables or anywhere near you. Basically it's your twin. haha. This fan is mostly made of plastic, but it feels very solid all around.
FUNCTION:
Air Purifier + Fan it is.
You can set the fan speed levels from 1-10. Yes 10 levels siya. But because we live in a very hot country, I always have this set at level 6 to 8 (without AC). The head is made up of a dome that propels clean air.
Dyson calls it ‘Core Flow’ technology. You can set the focus of the airflow, higher or lower by adjusting the dome’s position (up or down). This means you can focus the air to your head or upper body as you wish.
Its head can oscillate through a 70˚ range, which I think is a wider range than most fans (looks cool pag umiikot siya!). The fan operates silently but can get a bit loud at levels 8-10. But surely, traditional fans are even louder than this.
For the air purification, it does the job really well. Per Dyson, the filter is a combination of activated carbon and glass HEPA layer that captures 99.97% of pollutants and allergens. Look at how dirty it became after just 1 month of 8-12 hr of use per day. 😮
After a month of use, there are almost no random sneezes when I work and it actually feels better to inhale clean air. If you put your face in front of the fan, there’s this very fresh smell of air?? It’s difficult to explain pero amoy fresh. Haha.
I'm thankful that my asthma hasn't returned for a long time already. I think air purifiers will have long term effects that are beneficial for our respiratory health.
It has a small screen at the bottom that displays info such as fan speed, filter life, oscillation, and sleep timer. You can set the timer from 30 min. up to 8 hours. The screen also has ambient light sensor, that automatically dims at night.
This fan has a magnetic remote control that attaches in the front grill so you don’t ever lose it. Isn’t it cool? Just be careful not to drop it as it is thin, and a bit fragile.
For filter maintenance, Dyson said it can last up to 1 year based on 12 hours of use a day. Pro tip is you don’t really have to buy the original Dyson filter that costs P4,900. There are OEM filters in Lazada or Shopee that costs around P500-800 that work just as good.
WHAT I DON’T LIKE:
- This is a very selfish fan. You just can’t share it with 3 or more people. Haha. Well, it’s marketed as a personal purifying fan so there.
- The fan speed is not as strong as traditional fans. Levels 8-10 of this fan is maybe level 2 of traditional fans.
So expect a bit less on the strength of 'coolness' you will feel.
- The AoE (Area of Effect? Is this a game?🤣I hope you get it.) of the air flow is a bit small. We’re used to fans with blades that gives us larger AOE of air when you stand or sit in front of it.
Refer to Dyson Core Flow pic on how large the AoE is created by this fan. That’s why they put ‘focused and precise’ airflow in their product page. Thus, if you’re really sweaty all over, this will cool you down slower than traditional fans.
-Very bulky and heavy power adapter. Our sockets couldn't hold it. You may need an extension cord for this.
- No physical buttons on the fan itself except for a power button. It heavily relies on the remote control to function so don't ever lose or break it!
- No App / Wi-Fi integration. At this price range, this should at least have that. This may be the cheapest Dyson fan, but it will offer better value if you can control it using the Dyson Link app or control it using Google Assistant or Alexa.
- This fan cannot purify the air in a whole room. It is only designed to deliver clean air to you.
- It's very expensive, you can already buy a whole room air purifier for much less, and save some money to buy a decent fan (but that would mean you'll consume more space at home)
IS IT WORTH IT?
Yes, if you suffer from bad allergies and want a 2 in 1 product that can cool and bring you clean air. I don’t see any competing product that has the function of a real fan and an air purifier combined. AND YES, IF YOU GET THIS ON A DISCOUNT.
It has an SRP of P23,500 which is really expensive. Dyson has an official PH Lazada store and they usually join Lazada’s sale and offer their products at a good discount. I got this at P17,035. Hello Lazada 9.9! 😏
This fan is not for everyone, but if you want to save space in your home and want a 2 in 1 product that purifies the air directed at you and cools you down, this is it! It's also highly recommended for pet owners with clingy fur babies. 🐱🐶
Yes, I bought a wooden stool just for this fan so it can seat next to me while I work. 😂
So that's it for this Twitter review. I hope you got something from this review. Maybe you deserve this for your hardwork? HAHAHA #dimunyu
