In 2018, Tim Federle, the creator and show runner and writer of hsmtmts, had been accused of sexual assault / sexual harassment
Quickly after this was found, people were disgusted by his predatory behavior and a # had started ( #firetimfederle ) which actually started trending on twitter for a bit. This situation was during when the BLM protests had started up again so, with that in mind. People started-
- Calling Tim out for other things too, such as:
- Being racially biased in writing
- hiring racist actors (we will get into that next)
- he acts predatory around minors and the cast all together
- Making racist tweets
etc.
He has not addressed any of these things.

Tim has practically fallen off the face of the earth since these allegations came out. He has not acknowledged any of this since then. #FireTimFederle had stopped trending and it quieted down.
Because of this, I took it upon myself to make a series of very quick and messy drawings and anonymously sent them to numerous accounts and together we started: #DontForgetFederle
#DontForgetFederle then also died down, Tim has still not acknowledged any of this since then and neither has Disney.

Multiple cast members who did not speak up about black lives matter that week had participated in #BlackOutTuesday on Instagram, and later deleted it after people had said that blackout Tuesday does not tribute to helping out the BLM movement.

BEFORE WE GET INTO SECTION THREE (because it’s taking a while for me to gather all of the receipts) here are some other issues involving racism that include the cast:
Olivia Keegan is a newer cast member and was hired to play a new character on s2 of hsmtmts and had said this:
this was offensive and offended many people in the fandom,
Lou is another background dancer on the show, many people found her old tweets including the n word and were very upset (as you can see the ratio)

steph is a featured dancer on hsmtmts and has one line of dialogue in the show. fans followed her so she was pretty well known in the cast.
one night, stephs old tweets had resurfaced and people were disgusted and offended by her racist behavior. Here are some tweets (not all of them, unfortunately I was not able to get the receipts of all the tweets
There were tweets that included her fetishizing black people , saying nsfw things about black people , etc . If anyone has the screenshots ,feel free to quote with them and I’ll add them to this thread. People were very uncomfortable with the energy created in the studio that day
but in all seriousness, people were very visibly upset with this and considering (thought i do not have the receipts ) she has said the n word numerous times and when she was called out for this, her brother came out with an apology statement:

I am going to be covering all the things that thread has stated, that being said, let’s start
this all started back when Josh got called out for saying the f slur.

Not many people were buying this apology and / or did not except it. And then a few months went by and Black Lives Matter protests were coming back and people were signing petitions, sharing links, doing what they could to help the movement.
While all of that was going on, Josh was not speaking up. Many people were upset and started calling him out, especially his manager, Chelsea.
Numerous people had been dm’ing his manger asking to let him speak up about black lives matter and use his platform. This resulted in her blocking many people:

This upset people even more knowing that he was active and simply not doing anything. People were getting furious. After a week of begging, tweeting, yelling, josh finally released a twitter statement:

He had dehumanized the victim in this statement which left people angry, and he has not mentioned they other two allegations since then.
After being called out abt the blm movement, Josh went on Instagram and admitted to having a racist past
People were angry at him even more because if this hadn’t happened, and if people did not call him out, he would’ve never addressed any of this. He has not acknowledged the other two sa allegations.
Josh’s costar, Julia Lester , has spoken up about the situation after someone paid her to in a cameo, here is what she said:

Many people exclaimed that this one isn’t necessarily olivias fault, but more the makeup artists fault for choosing makeup that was three-four shades darker than Olivia skin tone.
Many people have tried to call out Olivia and the makeup artist for this but they have not spoken up about this issue as of right now.

None of these scenes were in hsmtmts and they have not spoken up about the deleted scenes that they had advertised. This resulted in backlash from many people.
Representation matters. This is not representation. So how did hsmtmts win if they cut out almost every scene? The reason is unknown.

this applies to why people are angry with Tim and his writing. The shows writing is racially biased and is filled with racial stereotypes that don’t work as good rep and can harm those younger POC audiences.
