some thoughts about mlm issues from an mlm: a thread

*please remember that not everyone has the same opinions on these things, even mlm, so I don't speak for everyone. I can only speak for my experiences and the experiences pals have shared with me <3

1. please don't make fun of the karofksy bullying/sexual assault, EVEN if it's "just a joke." that scenario has actually happened to MANY mlm, including me, and causes a lot of internalised homophobia so... just don't pls <3 and if u have, yea jus be... aware in the future <3

2. if ur a 30+ year-old person reading/writing mlm... actually any romantic fanfiction about teenagers stop it idc if they're of the age of consent it's weird

3. some of u take it a step too far with the shipping. like... it is fine up to a Point. but when ALL your favourite ships are mlm/mlm is all you talk about and u aren't mlm or at the very least lgbt... yeah that makes lots of us uncomfortable

4. cc jokes, at least to me, aren't funny. so many real-life friendships have been ruined by real-life obsessive mlm shipping and it's uncomfortable so... stop. it's not funny to a lot of us.

(most of the time it is funny tho, like keep taking the piss out of cc shippers pls)

5. most of u don't need this but GOD. STOP READING FICS THAT ARE HEAVILY SMUTTY IF UR NOT MLM. IT IS WEIRD. AND PERPETUATES NEGATIVE AND DAMAGING STEREOTYPES ABT GAY MEN!!!

6. show mlm fic writers (...jam and i) more love there are like 4 of us and the content we give u is usually laced with real-life trauma and personal experience but y'all would rather read something inaccurate written by a 35-year-old woman? ok babe x

7. a lot of the time when you think kurt is annoying it's internalised homophobia yes i find his jokes annoying sometimes but most of the reasons people site for him being annoying are straight-up homophobic so... fuck that

8. i love darren but his blaine voice was homophobic (although he was being directed by RIB so are we surprised)

9. mlm aren't a fucking monolith and not one of us speaks for all of us. also stop treating us like we're all the same/into the same things because trust me, whilst stereotypes are funny for us to joke about, we are diverse

10. stop using twink as an insult. if i have to explain this one to u, block me <3

11. spencer's character was, once again, homophobic, and a PERFECT example of toxic masculinity/internalised homophobia in the gay community. but again: RIB, are we surprised.
