Across the globe ,sectarian divisions, inter and intrafaith religious plurality and diverse linguistic and cultural diversity have been a basis of civil strife and ultimately geographical divisions.But the Indian case has been starkly different.
The huge network of consecrated teerthas and puranic lores bind the abode of hundreds of sampradayas , languages and traditions into one country-BHARAT. Because despite their diversities these systems have been carefully crafted to complement each other.

Do we need to tell a bengali speaking kali devotee of Kolkata, that the state of gujarat , cherishing the kali of pavagarh , is as much India as Bengal is? Doesn't an isckon devotee of Mayapur yearn for a darshan of udupi krishna in karnataka or srinavasa in Andhra.
When gorakshnath , the greatest guru of the pan india Nath panth, walks on foot to preach, he ties konkan to Nepal, Bengal to Sindh , Punjab to Girnar and it becomes intrinsic of these linguistic groups to have mutual respect for each other, thus strengthening unity.
banke bihari in vrindavan the north, shreenath in the west , guruvayoor in the south ,and jagannath in the east, krishna makes his devotees circumambulate the entire landmass of bharat thus tying the land together with a thread of reverence.
fascinatingly , even the folk deities worshiped in one part of the country trace their roots to some other province. Jahar veer, the warrior hero of Rajasthan is widely worshiped by the people of gujarat and punjab. While nathiya mai of dhaka is worshiped in Hariyana.
The occult masters of Rajasthan and Gujarat bow down to Ismail jogi, an assamese muslim mystic while worshiping Meldi, a prominent goddess , who was sent to conquer Kamrup by the Gods ,but is worshiped in Saurashtra.

the widespread tradition of Kuladevata temples in India makes every individual remember their geographical roots irrespective of which part of the country they have migrated to. My kuladevi temple stands in Rajasthan while another temple of the same deity is in Jaintia hills!
