i just hate. the way people use the word "religion" when what theyre referencing is very specific to christianity lmao
ex-christian atheists are some of the worst about this
especially when so much of christianity's foundations are literally just antisemitism, next time i see an ex christian harping about "religion is bad" i am going to completely lose it
soooo many of the responses going "but-" and then doing exactly what im talking about lol.

1) not all things xtian hegemony considers "religion" requires faith in the immaterial
2) the concept of "religion" itself is a christian concept used to prop itself up as more real than other forms of spirituality

3) i'm not even talking about homophobia, but if we are going there, do Not dare tell my jewish self it's endemic to all "abrahamic religions" ill spit
4) ofc plenty of religious institutions are capable of and have committed great acts of violence, but Christianity was literally used to colonize half the world and there is no analysis of it without being very explicit about that and what theology explicitly makes way for that
if you're comparing the level of violence imposed by Christianity vs other institutions you are being incredibly dishonest if you place it on the same level when it quite literally props up white supremacist settler values, as they are foundational to one another
anyways, i am done from here https://twitter.com/ebu_uj/status/1292770816137089024
Since people are acting dense: Literally nowhere did I say all other religious institutions are incapable of wrongdoing, this is *very specifically* about christian cultural dominance and how people who only understand religion through the lens of christianity use it
*directly* against the very people who have been colonized by Christianity by demonizing their own practices and beliefs. That was literally the only point being made. Save your pitchforks
