My parents have thankfully experienced the "mild" version of COVID-19 (fatigue, loss of taste & smell, coughing, etc). They were isolated in their room & we've constantly been disinfecting their dishes & cutlery, washing & sanitizing our hands after handling their things...
My siblings & I (incl my brother's gf) have physically been fine, just emotionally & mentally drained after this week. We've also been taking daily Vit C & D & Zinc tablets, while drinking copious amounts of ginger & lemon tea.
As a way to remain sane & have something to break up the constant nurse duties, we decided to play Come Dine With Me this week, with each of us getting a night to host. It helped having something to look forward to & "work towards."
First night, my night. Theme: The Matrix (mainly cause I wanted to be Niobe
). My prep time was a shambles, the kitchen was a mess & my little quiches burnt slightly

Everyone said my food was good...but Amber kept criticizing the dishes, "too little salt," "is this supposdd to be burnt"
I still thought it was a good effort & everyone seemed to enjoy my game of "What Would You Choose?" I would've given myself an 8.

Second night, Christian. Theme: Sports around the world. I thought it was an eat around the world vibe & had planned to dress like a Khoi princess...then they burst my bubble by explaining it's specifically sports. His invite was a bit ambiguous I think

I liked the starter (even Christian was surprised by how well it turned out
).We only discovered afterwards Natalie's chicken wasn't that well cooked
Our host was a bit of a mess, running all over the place...kitchen looked worse than mine did! Still, a surprisingly tasty meal

Third night, Amber. Theme: P-party. We were all looking forward to her night, cause she's mos the chef! She was cool, calm & collected...until it was time for the party, toe was sy nervous
Side note: I should've received extra points for actually writing out invitations

There was a little mishap as she was serving the dessert
the tart fell
shambles! Was I getting joy out of her misfortune in the hopes of it bringing me closer to victory? Maybe. I'm gonna let you guess what everyone was

Final night, Natalie. Theme: Back to School. Shame, die girl was heel week nervous! But her food smelled delicious & was yum...just needed more seasoning. Her night made Amber stress, you could see she wasn't as confident anymore

Chicken and mushroom dishes are always a winner for me, I'm an easy to please girl. But she left us alone for a while...which led to Amber & I "arguing" about my life story (I said I'm married with 3 kids & that my husband owns a construction company)
My parents also got to give us a score out of 10...they tallied all the votes. I won't lie, I thought I'd at least come 2nd. I CAME LAST!! Christian beat me by a half a point
Nat & Amber tied for 1st place
I obviously contested this with the judges, aka my parents. No luck

Disclaimer: We had limited choices with ingredients, seeing as how we couldn't leave the house. So I think we did pretty well
ek is nog altyd kwaad oor daai scores
Also, for someone who's sick, my dad had a lot to say about my supposed "cold" food
