Earlier today - police was waiting near Tsikhanouskaya's appartment. She managed to escape, so far.

At this moment, I am receiving tons of messages (dozens) about the detentions of people in Minsk and regions. The police arrest cyclists, legal observers at voting stations, drivers who were honking at 7PM, young men who raised fists at the same flashmob. Massive crackdown begins

The police explained Kalesnikava that they detained her "by mistake", "confused" her with someone.

Why they did that?

1) They did send the message that they keep the situation under full control.
2) To test the reaction of media, Belarus, and international community.

Authorities hijack and delete Telegram chats supposed to coordinate the work of independent observers. At least one coordinator was detained.
