The fact that "no target shooting in this area" signs have been hung throughout the woods here, but none of the targets that encourage an unsafe firing angle have been taken down, feels like such a visual bandage of an attempt at keeping hikers nearby safe.
The fact the "no target shooting" signs actually look themselves like targets hasnt escaped me either.
The signs in question. Placed at what im sure was the most convenient height for an average sized person to do easily.

With much of the text too small to be seen without a telephoto lens or trampling the local flora.
I have a whole thread about this ready to go but things seem to be about ready to kick off tonight so ill save it but hooboy im full of spice about this tbh
Okay so continuing this thread. This is the area where the "no target shooting" sign is hung.

Can anybody tell me why you shouldn't be shooting here anyway?
Not waiting for an answer, you shouldn't be shooting here anyway because the field slopes downhill away from you.

Should you miss your target, or should your shot overpenetrate, your bullet will carry on flying into who knows what.
You should *always* be aware of what lies beyond your target. Bullets have a nasty tendency to go completely through things, so you should be making sure that there's something behind your target thats going to stop that, whether a hill, or a range backstop or what have you.
This was always a bad place to shoot, and that no target shooting sign doesn't actually have any different rules than are laid out at the entrance to this trail. Theyre already rules one should be following out there anyway.
Fun fact though, I went and checked it out and turns out? On the other side of that wooded area? There's a hiking trail.

So target shooting there means you are literally shooting towards where people will be walking, with little between you and them. Unsafe is putting it mildly.
