1/ THREAD: Body Language Analysis No. 4446: Bill Barr regarding the arrest of Ghislaine Maxwell — and interviewing Prince Andrew — Nonverbal and Emotional Intelligence https://abcn.ws/3fbQ95v#BodyLanguage #BodyLanguageExpert #EmotionalIntelligence #GhislaineMaxwell #JeffreyEpstein #BillBarr
2/ Recently, Bill Barr was interviewed by Pierre Thomas of ABC News. What follows is a nonverbal and statement analysis of a crucial portion of that interview regarding Ghislaine Maxwell and Jeffrey Epstein.
3/ Beginning at 0:03 in the above-referenced video link, Pierre Thomas continues, "... Ghislaine Maxwell is now in federal custody. Ah, number one, can you ensure that she will make it to trial? ..."
4/ "... Ahum, Jeffrey Epstein — died, ah, suicide situation — ahum, are you locked-in to make sure that doesn't happen, Sir?""
5/ BARR: "Yes."

Barr then displays a profoundly telling and rapid and compact series of body language displays. Together, these are known as a 'Cluster' — a nonverbal analog of a sentence.
6/ The first thing we see is an extremely rapid fluttering/rapid blinking of his eyelids as he says, "Yes" (0:24).
7/ Next, we see a hint of a smile. It's an example of a suppressed smile — and it's subtle in both magnitude and duration. Like many suppressed smiles, this one is out-of-context. This particular display is a subset of what is known as a 'Duping Delight' (0:25).
8/ It's named so because the person displaying it believes they are either successfully deceiving their audience — or that they are perpetrating malfeasance with little or no consequences. Because of its evanescence, it's also classified as a microexpression.
9/ Please watch the video, as the still images do not capture the dynamic nature of this behavior display.
10/ In rapid succession, we next see a Forward Lip Purse (0:26) which signals a clandestine plan and/or an undisclosed disagreement. A forward lip purse is made by a person who believes they're in an alpha position relative to their audience.
11/ Moreover, when the forward lip purse is used, those displaying it believe they have a good chance of successfully executing their plan.
12/ After briefly returning to a neutral expression, Barr rapidly projects a one-sided-smile (0:26.5). Unilateral smiles, such as this, where one corner of the mouth is pointed down whilst the other points upward are virtually always duplicitous.
13/ Barr then transitions into a partial smile.
14/ and then he then breaks into a full smile.
15/ ... followed rapidly by full, uncontrolled, laughter.

Again, please watch the video, as the still images do not represent the dynamic behavior.
16/ Take a moment and think about Barr's behavior here. After being unable to suppress his emotions, he's broken into full laughter. This is a real-life Bond villain moment.
17/ This occurs within the context of him being asked if he can prevent a 'suicide' of Ghislaine Maxwell after the alleged suicide of her alleged accomplice, Jeffrey Epstein.
18/ Epstein's death occurred in a maximum-security prison under highly suspicious circumstances within a Justice Department in which Barr is the chief officer. And Barr is not able to contain his glee.
19/
THOMAS: "A, y–, can you give me a sense of what you told the people in charge?"

BARR: "Ah, ya know, we, we have asked them ta — tell us specifically the protocols they're following — and we have a number of, ah, of ah, redundant, ah, systems to — monitor the situation."
20/ We once again see smiling out of context just as Barr says the words, "redundant, ah, systems" (0:38-0:40).
21/ It's also important to note, that Barr dissociates himself from the facility in which Maxwell is being held:

i.e. "we have asked them", "ta — tell us specifically the protocols", "they're following" — Again, Barr is the leader of the entire Justice Department.
22/ There is no "them" — from Barr's POV, the Justice Department is a "we", an "our", an "us", etc. He makes the protocol.
23/ Barr's act of distancing himself from a portion of the Justice Department, in this context, is highly concerning.

Barr is dissociating himself — both from Epstein's death and from Maxwell's safety.
24/
THOMAS: "And, and how angry at the were you at the Jeffrey Epstein situation?"

BARR: "Oh I was, I was livid, obviously [in calm voice]. I believe very strongly in that case. And — I was very proud of the work done by the department — the Southern District — on that case."
25/ Just prior to him saying, "Oh I was, I was livid", Barr is displaying an Inward Lip Roll. An inward lip roll is a manifestation of our psyche's attempt at suppressing strong emotion, both inwardly (in our minds') and outwardly (on our faces').
26/ There exists no public video or photographs of Barr displaying anger or being "livid" with regards to Jeffrey Epstein's alleged suicide.
27/ BARR continues, "And, as you will recall, ah, after he committed suicide, I said that I was confident that we would continue to pursue this case vigorously — and, ah, pursue anyone who was complicit in it."
28/ Barr looks down (diminishing his eye contact) as he shakes his head side-to-side ('no') when he's making a positive statement ("...ah, pursue anyone who was complicit in it"). Please watch the video as the still image does not catch this dynamic." [shakes head no/ 1:06]
29/ Whenever the body language contradicts the verbal language, as it does here, it's the body language that's telling the truth.
30/ It's notable that Barr says, "...after he committed suicide,...". Why not simply say, "after his death", or "after his suicide", or "after the suicide"?
31/ Barr is emphasizing/selling the phrase/idea of, "he committed". He's still trying to sell the idea of Epstein's cause of death. Why? — Because Barr doesn't believe it.
32/ BARR continues, ".... and so, I'm very, happy that we were able to get, tah [sic], Ms. Maxwell." As he says "very", Barr's forehead elevates as his upper eyelids are almost closed (1:09).
33/ These two adjacent tissues pulling in opposite directions is highly indicative of deception. Notice too, the conspicuous pause before he says, "happy".

Why the pause? Because Barr was *not* happy.
34/
THOMAS: "If there are other cro [sic] conspirators, are you comin' for them?"

BARR: "Ah, if, if, if they, if they've been involved, if, they've been in [sic] complicit in these crimes, yes."
35/ Here, Barr stutters dramatically, misspeaking "been in complicit", and once again, directs his eyebrows & forehead up while his eyelids closed. This combination of verbal, nonverbal, & paralanguage behavior is a profound red flag & extremely suspicious for deception (1:18).
36/ THOMAS: "And I've see where th- department wants to talk to Prince Andrew. Ahum, do you think it's appropriate and do you want to talk to him?"
37/ BARR: "Well definitely — department wants to talk to Prince — Andrew. That's why the Southern District is making efforts to communicate and to arrange [sic] interview of him." (an additional misspeak/word omission).
38/ THOMAS: "And if you could send a message to — him, what would it say?"
39/ BARR: "Well, I, I wouldn't send a message to him, but I, ya kn-, I, I think the department is — communicating with, with him and ah, made it clear that we'd like to interview 'em."

This sentence has multiple body language/facial displays:
40/ "Well, I, I wouldn't" ... [Feigned pout at 1:44]"
42/ "...send a message to him ..."
[partially suppressed smile/Lie 1:45]
43/ "...but I, ya kn-, I, I think the department is — ..."
[more feigned pouting/feigned consideration during 1:48]
44/ "... communicating with, with him and ah, made it ..."
[during 1:51, eyelids closed/brows up/deception]
45/ "... clear that we'd like to interview 'em ..."

[1:52 / rapid blink / anxiety]"
46/
THOMAS: "You want every bit of evidence in connection with that case."

BARR: "Yes."
[rapid blinking indicating high anxiety during 1:56]
47/ SUMMARY: William Barr's behavior in this interview is so out-of-context, so alarming, that it's difficult for most people to draw comparisons.

continued ...
48/ Barr's behavior indicates that he lied multiple times during this interview. He is not happy that Ghislaine Maxwell was arrested.

continued ...
49/ Barr is speaking to Prince Andrew directly. He does NOT want Prince Andrew to be interviewed.

continued ...
50/ Moreover, Barr's verbal, nonverbal, and paralanguage behavior indicate that he believes that Jeffrey Epstein did not take his own life and that Ghislaine Maxwell's life is in danger.
