I have covid. (THREAD)

I’ve been super cognizant of wearing masks, social distancing, hand sanitizing like a maniac, etc.

Two weeks ago, I had a weekend-long trip planned with a close friend of mine, along with two other guys.
This trip was for my friend’s wedding, so in spite of my hesitations, I felt like (1) there were only four of us and (2) as long as we wore masks everywhere, we would be fine.

The trip was a lot of fun but after the weekend, my friend lets us know that he has a fever.
Two days later, he lets us know he’s tested positive for covid.

I had been quarantining since he told us about his fever, but I wanted to wait a little longer before getting a test. Four days after exposure, I got a test. 8 days after exposure, it’s a negative result.
So I think I’m in the clear. I start eating with my family, I see my girlfriend, etc.

TEN DAYS after exposure, it hits me like a truck. Chills, headache, fatigue, painful swallowing. I go to the doctor 13 days after exposure and I learn that I have covid.
Unfortunately, because I tested too early and took my initial negative to be right, I exposed my family and girlfriend who are now also quarantining & will likely show symptoms in the coming days.
My experience has shown me two things with respect to covid:

1. It only takes one incident/one time being careless to get it

2. It is so important to wait the proper amount of time before getting a test. Otherwise you stand to infect a lot more people

Be safe everyone
