What news should do way better and what Twitter could be amazing for but currently isn't, is *following up* on stories. https://twitter.com/greg_doucette/status/1288155005627895809
If it was important enough to write about as it's happening, it's probably important enough to know what comes next. That goes quintuple if there were any predictions made explicitly or implicitly in the article, we need to know what happened and if you were right!
If you've convinced me to invest my intellectual engagement in a story, I would like that to be respected. Did it matter the next day or week or month, or was it a nothingburger to begin with?
Remember when we killed Soleimani and it was maybe WWIII and then...I didn't hear anything more about it?
Great example https://twitter.com/EnduringBeta/status/1292881063539290115?s=19
Also important: the kind of follow up that gives you a picture of what things look like when they're not "newsworthy", which is most of the time and should be most of the conception. https://twitter.com/HenryKraemer/status/1289632886019117057?s=20
