I've been obsessed with Swedish hardcore/metal/post punk/pop bands for a long time.

When I moved to Sweden, for the flight over I prepared a playlist of music from Swedish bands that mean a lot to me. I'd like to share some songs with you. Maybe you'll find something new <3
Refused - Rather Be Dead.

First listening to Refused back in the late 90's is as a pivotal point for me as when I first listened to Metallica. This band means the world to me.
Raised Fist - Get This Right.

I don't think there is another band in the world like Raised Fist. I remember getting a sample CD from Missing Link in Melbourne with one of their tracks and it absolutely blew my mind. One of the best live bands out there.
Tiger Lou - Undertow.

This band just combines dark percussion and tones to perfection. The way the vocals are layered on the recordings are sooo good as well. One of the last bands on my "I must see them live" list.
INVSN -Immer Zu

There's something really special about INVSN for me it feels like a strong unification of each band members personality. It captures the dark synth pop of the 80's with amazing hook filled choruses.
Fireside - Left Rustle

Before Spotify I used to go through the thank you sections of bands albums and look up the bands they thanked. I found Fireside by doing this with one of Refused's albums. This song and album still blows me away.
Cult of Luna - Leave Me Here.

Probably one of the heaviest bands on the planet. If I ever made a movie, they would be my number one choice to do the soundtrack.
Breach - Almighty Generation

Quite possibly the heaviest guitar tone I've ever heard.
Blindside - All of Us

This song has the weirdest changes and it makes the song really work. I love the use of melody as well.
Firefox AK - Heart of Mine

Dark synth pop forever.
In Flames - I Am Above.

Such a good balance of melodic metal.
Entombed - Damn Deal Done.

This is album feels like a band having a party in your brain and it's amazing. One of the best intro riffs out there.
Robyn - With Every Heartbeat.

It's impossible to not like this song.
Kristopher Åström - Conjure Me

Kristopher is such an amazing story teller and musician.
Roxette - Dangerous

Ridiculous guitar hooks, vocal lines and one of the most powerful voices I've heard in Marie Fredriksson. Roxette where the first concert I ever went to, it was weird landing in Sweden and seeing news of Marie's death the day after.
I was doing this over my lunch break, there are so many more, but I'll stop now. I think I'm just having a week of reflection and it's finally clicked that I've moved to the country where it's music has had such influence on almost all of my life. :)

I miss live music a lot. <3
