We& #39;d like to address an ongoing concern about reposting.

It& #39;s something we know happens a lot and can be upsetting, especially when it& #39;s the artists own work being reposted without permission. The reposting rule isn& #39;t something that& #39;s commonly understood outside 1/
the art/design world and we hope that this will begin to change going forward.

The work an artist/designer/editor/any creative produces belongs to them and its within their rights to decide how this can be shared. What they work on means a lot to them and in some cases its 2/
part of their identity. In the same way traditional art pieces shouldn’t be taken without permission, this also applies to digital work.

Unfortunately because social media is a free platform this leads to the assumption that all imagery and art that& #39;s posted can also be used 3/
freely as we wish. There perhaps isn& #39;t enough education of artist rights and artwork use.

If you& #39;re an artist that has their work reposted and don& #39;t know how to handle things, first step is to contact the reposter privately, perhaps via DM if available to explain your 4/
reposting rules, whether this be crediting the original art or not reposting at all. It can be a stressful situation that might not always go well, but don& #39;t let that discourage you from posting your work.

Protect your work the best you can by watermarking: 5/
this could be the username on the platform you post on, or an artist name you have. This should be clear on the artwork, even if you also have a note on it to not repost and include the social media icon for your account, whichever works best for you. 6/
Consider a location on your work that& #39;s clear and harder to crop out.

Let& #39;s continue to create a safe and welcoming space for everyone to enjoy, share and appreciate art and design.
