Independent report on quality of homes in buildings converted from offices to residential without planning permission found only 22% met national space standards, 72% only had windows on one side & just 3.5% had any private amenity space. No contributions to community facilities

Despite independent report clearly showing that permitted development rights (PDR) deliver unacceptably poor quality homes with no contribution to community facilities or social housing, govt is today announcing huge expansion of PDR which will damage communities & cause misery

There isn’t any evidence that planning system is the major barrier to delivering new homes (but lots of evidence that lack of govt investment social housing is) but the Tories are pressing ahead with a disastrous plan which will bypass communities & lower standards

Government should be seeking to increase community involvement in planning, instead the Tories plan to make it easier for rogue developers to deliver slum-quality housing with no no contribution to community facilities or social housing #planningwhitepaper #planningdisaster
