We spend 90% of our time indoors – like it or not, we are an indoor species. And with this pandemic, nearly every outbreak of more than 3 people is attributed to time spent indoors, making time indoors one of the most important risk factors for disease spread

3/ Yet when I look at the projects funded by National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Diseases for the past year, of the 10,000 or so, I can only find 14 with the phrase ‘indoor air’.
4/ Are we doing enough basic research on how indoor environments impact disease transmission, and how healthy buildings can slow the spread? Are we engaging enough with other fields – engineering, building science, indoor air quality, public health?
