The forthcoming #SpyCops public inquiry @ucpinquiry is limited to activities in England & Wales, even though many officers went to Scotland, both for political activity & to cultivate the relationships with women they spied on.
The Met admitted #SpyCops deceiving women they spied on into relationships was 'abusive, deceitful, manipulative & wrong... a gross violation of personal dignity and integrity' that violated fundamental human rights.
It cannot be right that we get a public inquiry for #SpyCops' deeds in England & Wales but citizens abused by them in Scotland get nothing. Having recognised the seriousness of the #SpyCops scandal in Scotland & the need for a credible inquiry, then-Justice Minister Michael Matheson met with victims including @Donna__McLean's sister. The Scottish Government commissioned HM Inspectorate of Constabulary in Scotland to produce a report. It was conducted by officers who'd been involved with #SpyCops. The result - as was surely intended - was a whitewash. It didn't even mention women deceived into relationships.

The Scottish government's contradictory position continues to this day - #SpyCops abuses in Scotland should be covered by @ucpinquiry, but if excluded Scotgov refuses to have its own inquiry. Victims asked for a meeting with Justice Minister @HumzaYousaf, but he has ignored them.
Thank you @DaniGaravelli1 for doing such an incisive interview with @Donna__McLean, putting the issue to the fore in Scotland. #SpyCops abused citizens & undermined campaigns in Scotland over a period of decades. Scotland deserves truth & justice just as much as England & Wales.
