I don't know how I feel right now. One side I am celebrating the victory of convincing 10 women from Ambi village to do small scale business but on the other, Rajesh ji, whom I'd kept in a shelter home last week, ran away from there.
As the shelter home people told me he became violent and abusive.
When I saw him back near Yaari Road, I asked him why he left the shelter? He said he gets free langar food in Versova and by begging he buys his own liquor and tobacco.
He added, when he doesn't need to work and is fine sleeping on road then why should he stay in place with restricted timings and no liquor.
He chose this life and I had nothing left to say to him.
When I met rajesh ji last week he was getting beaten up his cloths were all dirty. But he ok living life by begging .. 13 years he did this ...

I don’t know whose mistake is this but I always feel no one should suffer and hopefully begging should be banned.
But if you look at the overall system we don’t have proper and well equipped shelter homes. And the ones which are there don't have fully trained staff to take care of people living through diverse experiences.. We don’t know how to handle disturbed minds,
#Vandemataram shelter I'm not saying it's completely your fault that he ran away, it’s a system failure most of all, for not having enough shelter homes and dedicated and trained team for homeless people. If there are ideas, there's need for better execution.
I was sad thinking about how I had failed too. But I haven't yet lost my hope. Tomorrow if I see another person who needs help, I'll go ahead and do it again without a doubt. Because sometimes that's all we can do. We can try. And We should .. Let's do more for each other.
