I don't talk about writing often on here but just a thought I've been having lately: so many writers, esp those just starting out, often look up to advance their career rather than looking sideways. Look sideways more often.
By that I mean: find your peers. Connect with that emerging director, with that new producer hungry for great ideas, with other writers for collaboration.

Work with your peers. Lift them up. Let them lift you. Build your own undeniable network.
You do not need the magical achievement of representation in order to find connections.

Twitter is a brilliant resource for finding like-minded creative people
Because the people you look up to were once like you. And many of them looked sideways and collectively grew their network
