Idk if Ellen is mean but I've never liked a show where they fill a room with people who can't make ends meet because they lost their job or their spouse died or they have cancer and then make them do silly dances and proclaim their love for Ellen for a 1 in 300 shot at a new car
I'm not knocking the show's acts of charity but there's an overt focus on the reporters they send asking how much they love Ellen and, if they've done a noble deed, why Ellen inspired that deed. And a clear motive to inspire the parasocial idea that YOU could get a car from Ellen
If a lady can't afford to feed her kids because she went broke paying for her cancer treatments, why does she need to fawningly say that Ellen keeps her smiling during chemo in order to deserve the big novelty check. Why should we even care if she's heard of the show
