The investigation with intl experts should determine why & how a huge quantity of highly combustible/potentially explosive material came to be stored in #Beirut ’s port for years & what triggered the explosion. Also identify all who knew but failed to act. (3/7)

If #Lebanon officials did in fact have notification of a clear threat to life and failed to take reasonable steps to address that threat, then they are RESPONSIBLE for the UNLAWFUL deaths of more than 135 people. Victims are owed compensation. (4/7)

Despite resource limitations, #Lebanon obligated to ensure that everyone affected has access to adequate shelter immediately & adequate housing in medium term, as well as food, water, healthcare. Unlawful to discriminate on the basis of gender, nationality, refugee status. (5/7)

Countries that pledged assistance, incl #France, #Canada, #UK, #Qatar, should ensure humanitarian aid goes DIRECTLY to those affected or through orgs providing live-saving assistance on the ground. Donors should consider financially supporting independent investigation. (6/7)
