Funny how so many tweets I see are queer people debating over and over again about labels and slurs used WITHIN the community and so few about the ennemy we share. I get that words are important, of course, but when debates on words used within the community overweighs the fights
for our REALITIES,,, it's terrifying. I see so little organizing and so many of these debates. I am so worried for the future of our struggle. We MUST work out way through our problems within the community but why do we focus so much of our energy on this?
This does NOT apply to acknowledging and fighting the racism, transphobia, sexism ans other forme of oppressions within our community. On the contrat, thisshould probable our #1 priority but we are using so much time debating labels that we can't see our priorities anymore.
Arguing that we can do both of these, debating labels for days and days with the same arguments over and over again AND fighting all the other fights we need is naive. Activism requires so much time and energy, we need to rearrange the time we spend on different problems. I'm not
Saying de should not talk about labels within the community, I'm just saying that it should not take us so much energy.
Of course, we are lucky to still have organizers and I am endlessly grateful for them, but I am worried our generation will not focus on the priorities. Once again, this is no way saying that we should not focus on problems within the community, on the contrary, we spend so
much time talking about labels and stuff like that that we spend less time working on the more urgent problems within the community: racism, transphobia, sexism, ableism, classism and other oppressions. Time is not infinite, especially for us. It is a matter of priorities.
