Every time I see another one of those articles that& #39;s like, "Gen Z Kids Make Fun of Millennials for Doing/Loving/Constantly Talking About [insert symbol for our general disillusionment, exhaustion, and poverty here]" I crack up laughing--no joke, I& #39;m not mad in the slightest
Because like 99% of the time, it& #39;s not like they& #39;re wrong lmao but also, like. You know what? I get it, y& #39;all. I get that you& #39;re seeing the dumpster fire that is your current environment and looking at your immediate elders going, "Why aren& #39;t you DOING SOMETHING?"
I mean, trust me, a lot of us are asking ourselves the same thing. But you gotta understand, y& #39;all have known from jump that things were a disaster. We...didn& #39;t. Well, a lot of us didn& #39;t, anyway.
A whole lot of us grew up being desperately sold the ever-growing chopped and screwed American Dream (yes this thread is v US-centric and v much from a white perspective I know, bear with me) from the time we could comprehend words and then it just...tanked, completely.
Like, for a lot of us, there& #39;s still so much of this that seems like it& #39;s a personal failing and not a massive societal one? So, y& #39;know, yeah, we talk a lot about The Office and drinking gas station wine and eating pizza rolls in the bathtub but like, we& #39;re AWARE of what it means
Like, guys, you don& #39;t have to TELL US how sad it is. That& #39;s...that& #39;s the whole joke. Bc that kind of thing is all we have lmao. Like esp the gas station wine in the bathtub thing, I& #39;m sorry, but that shit is still funny. Look at how fancy we are~
When we& #39;re doing that, we& #39;re remembering the fancy dishes our moms and grandmas used to display and only break out on Christmas while we drink our crappy days away with glorified spiked juice out of a Dixie Cup. Like, we know what& #39;s up.
And I genuinely don& #39;t know how to say this without sounding like a downer, but like...you know what? It& #39;s fine. I ain& #39;t even mad about you making fun of me, as long as you& #39;re funny about it. Don& #39;t waste an opportunity there. There& #39;s NO WAY you can hate us more than we do, kids.
