I think if I got back into RPG's I'd be all over Old-School Essentials. That just looks amazing.

Modern Pathfinder feels ridiculously overcomplicated to the point of parody and post-4e D&D feels like not the same game. Almost like it's trying to be too much like an MMO. And the power creep is out of control.

Modern RPGs seem to bake in assumptions that the PCs are the Most Special People In History and character death is unposssible but it's actually kind of cool if the PCs are luckless scrubs in a cruel world where important things are happening off camera and death is always close.

Also holy crap demi-humans and their OP. It just gets worse every edition.
