About the new revival Ren & Stimpy series… I just felt that was unnecessary. It’s a show that’s definitely got enough attention for what is already in its library, and the fact it’s creator has done terrible things since only adds weight to the reboot.
R&S has already had a couple of seasons, the APC, and lots of attention over the years for its pioneering style. It’s something I’d personally leave where it is.
The next question however, is primarily about the state of reboots itself. I’m not entirely against this idea, revived series can be a great solution when 1) the run fell short, 2) there is creative potential, 3) the team wants it, and 4) the finished product is very favorable.
The only points against this I’ve seen are how it does detract from original shows and other work those on the show may have, as well as the timeliness the original runs have exemplified.
I definitely understand that original shows bring wonderful new ideas and keeps the industry fresh. I too see how some of it is being pushed aside for reboots and spinoffs, some of which can flounder and aren’t very needed.
As for employees, I’m hoping they’ll at least make a decent check, have fun on the job, and sign up for it if it may be worth their time.
As for the situation of things being of their time… I also get that as well. Though it doesn’t have to be a downfall every time. Of course, many classic cartoons have been reincarnated through numerous iterations- and they’ve ranged from acclaimed works all the way to awful ones
When I see a classic Looney Tunes short, I do feel the history of the time- though it has been rebooted many times since. Having such franchises as obscure gems does add a special feeling and that’s why it’s been brought up.
I do see some cartoons which had many cultural references of the time, oddly the subject of current reboots have this notion. Even then, when done correctly and in limited form they can still be okay.
And what else… I also see how some fandoms can get fallow when new material for a franchise runs out. Not every cartoon needs to continue with a new series; comics, characters as mascots, video games, and more can all help fill the void. A win win IMO.

Before I close out this thread… I haven’t been fond about rebooting everything. I know this 90s nostalgia cycle has been a tidal wave, but there’s only one show I’ve always really wanted to come back (you may know which

And whew, that concludes my thread. All I need to say about this for now.
