Some of you may have seen a quite unpleasant exchange I had earlier today with a Progressive, White male.

For background, I had tweeted my support for Tlaib’s opponent and stated my wish that she be defeated.
This prompted this Progressive, White male to descend onto my TL and confront me about my “hatred for WOC”.

He further stated that I was too “conservative” and too old to be a member of the new Progressive Democratic Party.
Unspoken, but strongly implied, in his tweets was the idea that I was also too Black.

I’m highlighting this exchange because it’s easy to dismiss it as a one off.

Just another angry incel on Twitter.
But I’ve had this same encounter with Progressives too often to dismiss it.

There’s a definite pattern to it:

1. They see political opposition as “hatred” and call legitimate criticism “smears”.
2. They deride “identity politics” but hide behind the identity of Progressive candidates of color and use it as a platform to call others racists and bigots.

3. They are looking to make the Democratic Party smaller not broader (continued)
3. by “kicking out” those who disagree.

4. That they consider Democrats who oppose them “Conservatives” to be banished rather than Moderates who are potential allies.
5. They clearly envision the new Progressive Democratic Party as one that is hostile to Black people, women and older Americans.

I had these discussions on here with Progressives many, many times.

And the most disturbing feature is this:
It’s all fun and games as long as Black people accept what Progressives are offering.

But say it’s not enough or that it’s the wrong kind of help and the mask completely falls away.
And at that point, Progressives let loose a flurry of racist, anti-Black rhetoric that rivals the KKK.

Long passed are the days that Black people have to accept only what White people are willing to offer.
And no movement is truly Progressive if it is also racist, sexist, ageist and exclusionary.

They really need to work on these issues.

Because there’s no pathway to broad success in the Democratic Party that doesn’t include Black people, women and older Americans.
