Great managers work on career development for their team members for not only while they are at the company and go beyond. I still talk to many former direct reports about career development and always will be there for them.
Updated your portfolio gives you a moment to document what you& #39;ve done. Since many portfolios are case studies, it gives you time to position your work to focus on impact.
I& #39;ve often seen after you have people update their portfolio, they are so proud of what they& #39;ve done that it re-ignites what they& #39;re working on and motivated to stay even longer.
Updating your portfolio should be ongoing and a reflection tool and not only for prepping for departure.
