I think people misunderstand when I say I'm not a victim or oppressed or when I bring up wealthy minorities. I don't mean America doesn't have racism or is perfect. Far from it. I just truly believe in spite of her issues, one is not stuck in the position they were born in.

A caste system usually implies that whatever category you're born in, you stay there for life. That's just not my reality. I cannot speak to others as much though. I'm first generation homeowner and college graduate. I wasn't stuck in a dire situation.

I decided to serve my country in order not to be a slave to student loans. I'm not suggesting everyone to do this or that they can. I'm just saying you have to find something that works for you. This idea that America is oh so terrible is disempowering. I try to empower people.
