I remember wasting so much money, energy, and time on friends who didn't deserve a single thing from me.

I've had someone tell me my depression "drains" them, thinking they were my friend.

I'm so happy I realized what a friend actually is, because it sure isn't someone who
makes you feel guilty for having depression, or makes you feel like you're a bad friend for wanting to feel more important to them, or only wants to be around you when they're lonely.

A friend is someone who makes time for you, loves you despite your illnesses, and helps you
Want to grow to be better instead of abandoning you because their life is going a different path than yours.
Hypocrites and posers make the worst friends. Don't be that friend.
It's okay to admit you've been toxic, and it's okay to apologize and work on yourself.

It's NOT okay to pretend like you're perfect and have not wronged a single soul.

Everyone has toxic traits. Learn yours and own up to it like everyone else.
