Here's the thing with taking an anti-racist stand: it is *deeply* uncomfortable. It involves throwing away everything that's been ingrained in you that you didn't realize was there. It involves coming to terms with things you don't want to think about yourself.
It involves stripping back behaviors that you've always thought are okay and realizing they're not. It involves pissing off a LOT of people. People you are close to. People who you thought you respected. People who you may rely on.
It involves taking action and setting an example. It likely goes against every instinct you have, because all of that goes against our survival instinct. We want to hide in times of turmoil. Doing the opposite is terrifying. In the long run, it is the right thing to do.
If people are looking to you as a leader and you hide, that is wrong. If you choose the middle ground because you're afraid, that is wrong. It really is that black and white of an issue.
Anyway I'm very much looking forward to the blocks and subtweets I'll get for this thread, bye now.
