Thread on the political attempts to dodge accountability for the #Beirut_Explosion.

The institutional corruption, and lack of any accountability, and its implication on governance/negligence, are at the heart of this tragedy.
Officials have already started exchanging blame through their advisors and appointees, showing evidence of warnings, and many here expect/fear: this catastrophe will be pinned on a low key employee(s), thus absolving the entire political class from any responsibility.
Since the 2750 tons of Amonium Nitrate were stored since 2014 in the Beirut Port, the responsibility is shared by two presidents, two parliaments & their eternal speaker, three Prime Ministers, four governments, along with officials in the Judiciary, Customs and security services
This is the political class in its entirety, regardless of their internal divisions and regional loyalties. Their responsibility ranges from storing this dangerous shipment in the midst of Beirut, to ignoring several warnings, and negligence, plenty of it.
Many are calling for an international investigation, given the political sway over the judiciary. The civil war, political killings, decades of corruption, & the banking ponzi scheme, all went unnoticed by this legal system. There is no reason why it will be different this time.
